CHILDHOOD

Patricia de la Torre is Argentinian, born and raised in Buenos Aires, with two educational pillars: Art and France.

• Art: Born into a family of artists Patricia’s mother restored paintings, her father was an architect, her grandmother an antiquarian and her aunt a painter. Her family established the Buenos Aires ART CENTRE in 1969. A cultural centre that offered an Innovative experience for its time: happenings, exhibitions, meetings, events… At it’s peak, with 2000 students, it was an unrivaled destination. This is where Patricia grew up and attended her very first workshops including ceramics, woodworking and interior decoration. Alongside, her mother taught her painting and her brother gilding, and from then on she was hooked !
• France: for her 10th birthday Patricia recieved a book of fables  of La Fontaine, in French, a language she had already mastered. The links between Argentina and France are inseparable – it’s a love story ! as it also is between Patricia and France!

FIRST DISCOVERIES

Patricia looks on the world with warmth and wants to devour it. At the age of twenty she left Argentina for Brazil and landed in Buzios, the Brazilian Saint Tropez. A stone’s throw from Rio, with its magnificent beaches, culture and nightlife, it was already the place to be… well before it’s time. This is where Patricia created her first interior decoration project for a French restaurant, and started to make a living from her art.

TAKING RISKS

It was by sailboat that Patricia made her adventurous way from Brazil to France to study comparative literature at the Sorbonne. Guadeloupe was the next stop, and where she spent 3 inspiring years creating props and sets for advertising films. Strengthened by this experience, she returned to metropolitan France with no expectations. Patiently Patricia wove her network and slowly but surely made a name for herself in Paris’s world of interior decoration. Around this time, she created her first bas-relief and porcelain line for Guy Degrenne.

THE CREATION OF THE STUDIO

More and more, Patricia’s creativity, dexterity and expertise were called upon. Atelier de la Torre was founded in 1990 in Paris, the first 3 years saw orders pouring in and Patricia building her loyal team. Today, a team of over 30 artistic professionals accompany her on the many projects in France and around the world: brasseries, hotels, restaurants, luxury shops, private residences … There is rarely a place, that you pass, that doesn’t contain a touch of the Torre!
